The former Prime Minister of Charles IV, Manuel Godoy (1767-1851) became a prisoner of the new King Ferdinand VII of Spain after the Mutiny of Aranjuez. On 2 April 1808 Godoy was transferred, still under the custody of the Marquis of Castelar, captain of Halberdiers Company, to the castle of Villaviciosa de Odon.
