August 16, 1944, France - His helmet flashing in the sun and wearing a uniform of his own design, Lt. Gen. George S. Patton, Jr., grins broadly as he leaves his headquarters in France. Dispatches from the front recently disclosed that Patton was in command of the newly created US 3rd Army, the Blitz Army rapidly closing the gap at Falaise to trap an estimate 100,000 Nazi encircled there.
