"Treaty of Lisbon" (1701). Treaty of mutual alliance between Philip V of Spain and Pedro II of Portugal, by virtue of which the Portuguese monarch was obliged to guarantee the will of King Charles II concerning the succession to the Spanish throne. King Pedro II guaranteed support for Philip V and not for the pretender Charles of Austria. Signed in Lisbon on 18 June 1701 and ratified in Madrid on 1 July of that year.
