The Pillar of Eliseg, aka Elise's Pillar or Croes Elisedd, near Valle Crucis Abbey, Denbighshire, Wales, seen here in the 19th century. Erected by Cyngen ap Cadell, (c.790 - 855), king of Powys in honour of his great-grandfather Elisedd ap Gwylog. From Welsh Pictures, published 1880.
