Cape Disappointment, Washington: 1899, The Columbia River Light Ship 50 after it broke loose from its mooring in a storm and was beached at McKenzie Head near Cape Disappointment. Eighteen months later it was towed 700 yards overland and relaunched into the Columbia River to resume its duties as a Light Ship in the Pacific Ocean five miles west of the mouth of the Columbia River.
