Guglielmo Marconi, 1st Marquis of Marconi, 1874 - 1937. Italian inventor and electrical engineer. Famous for his pioneering work on long-distance radio transmission, his development of Marconi's law and a radio telegraph system. He is often credited as the inventor of radio. From Hutchinson's History of the Nations, published 1915.
