Jerome of Prague

Jerome of Prague (1360-1416). Czech scholastic philosopher and preacher. Jerome came under the influence of John Wycliffe and defended Jan Huss's thesis in various places in Europe. He went to the Council of Constance in defence of Hus when he knew that Huss had been arrested. Both were eventually condemned to be burned at the stake for heresy. Portrait. Engraving.
