Normandy, France, June 12, 1945 Flowers bloom on the sloping hillside of Omaha beach, where one year ago American soldiers stormed up on the shore of Normandy in the D-Day invasion of German occupied France. On this site, ceremonies were held on June 6th, first anniversary of D-Day, to commemorate the Allied landings.
