Christine de Pisan (1363- between 1429 and 1431) was a French poet, who was born in Italy. One of the first professional woman writers, she is known for her lyric poems, the themes of which are mostly love and chivalry. She is shown here at work writing and reading, in a miniature from her ""Livre de la mutacion de fortune"" (""Book on the change of fortune""). .
