This photo dating to 1912 shows Amerigo Vespucci, a sculpture of him by Grazzini that is housed in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence. Vespucci (1454-1512) was an Italian explorer, financier, navigator, and cartographer who was born in the Republic of Florence. He is best known for his namesake: the continents of North and South America.
