The early 1900s caption reads: ""HELVETIANS PLANNING THEIR MIGRATION.—The Helvetians were a tribe of Gauls, living in what is now Switzerland. They were constantly assailed by hordes of Germans as wild and fierce and more numerous than they. At length they held the national council which our picture shows, and decided to move in a body to some more peaceful home in the far west, by the Atlantic. Instead of peace they found death, for in their path they encountered Caesar and his Romans, and three-quarters of the entire Helvetian nation were slain."".
