Joan of Arc (1412-1431) is a French saint and national heroine. Also known as the Maid of Orleans, she began to hear ""voices"" at a young age. The voices urged her to bring help to the dauphin Charles (later Charles VII). The voices were said to be St. Michael, St. Catherine, and St. Margaret. This illustration is of a sculpture by M. Chapu and is housed Luxembourg Museum in Paris. .
