This late 1800s bookplate is in the style often included in books at the time to note the person or organzation to whom a book belonged. The figures include, from top left to bottom right: a caratydid (Greek column in shape of woman), Medieval warrior's plate armor, Greek shield and other warrior accessories, a woman (most likely a Muse) looking at a Greek style vase and making notes (the Muses were the patrons of the arts and sciences), a late Medieval French man in typical court dress.
