King Philip (d. 1676) was an Indian leader in most important Indian War of New England. He was the chief the Wampanoag Indians and the son of Massasoit. As a result of being forced to give the English land and following the execution of three Indians on murder charges, King Philip's War broke out in 1675, lasting until 1676. .
