Pontiac (d. 1769) was an Ottawa Indian chief. Pontiac's Rebellion (named after him) (1763-1766) was an Indian uprising against the British after the close of the French and Indian Wars. In this late 1800s engraving, Pontiac and several Ottawas meet with Major Gladwin regarding the fort at Detroit, the fort to which Pontiac lay siege.
