Benedict IX, previously Theophylact III of Tusculum (born after 1000, died around 1055 in Grottaferrata) was Pope three times in a period from 1032 to 1048. He is thus the only Pope to have held the office more than once, historical, digitally restored reproduction of a 19th century original.
