This photo, which shows the interior of the Hagia Sophia, dates to 1913. The structure was first built as an Eastern Orthodox basilica. It later became a Roman Catholic Cathedral, then a mosque, and then in 1935 it became a museum, which it remains today. At the time of this photo, it was a mosque. It stands in present-day Istanbul, Turkey, which was Constantinople at the time of its beginning.
