Washington as Surveyor
Légende
George Washington, the first president of the United States. One of Washington's early jobs and a field that held a particular fascination for him, was as a surveyor. Between 1747 and 1799, he surveyed more than 200 tracts of land and held title to 65,000 acres in 37 different locations. This illustration, which shows Washington in his youth as a surveyor, dates to 1898.
