Légende
This 1895 illustration shows the capture of Tyre as told in the Hebrew Bible, Ezekiel 32, verses 2 and 3. The year is said to be around 587 B.C. The city of Tyre lay about 35 miles from the Sea of Galilee and about 100 miles from Jerusalem. In ancient times, Tyre was an important Phoenician seaport and a center for making the expensive royal purple dye, from the liquid in the murex shell. As for the time period - it just before the rise of the Persian Empire and then the conquest of the area by the Macedonian leader Alexander the Great.
