History of Turkey. Constantinople. Dolmabahce Palace. Built between 1843 and 1856 by order of Sultan Abdulmecid I (1823-1861). It was the official residence of the Turkish sultans and the administrative centre of the Ottoman Empire between 1856-1887 and 1909-1922. Dolmabahce Imperial Palace, on the banks of the Bosphorus.
