Peninsular War (1808-1814). Catalonia. ""Siege of Rosas"" (7 November to 6 December 1808). The French general Laurent Gouvion Saint-Cyr (1764-1830) besieged the fortifications of Rosas to take the town, which was defended by Spanish troops under the command of Colonel Pedro O'Daly. Defence by sea was entrusted to British ships. Late on 5 December, Colonel O'Daly sent a parliamentarian to request capitulation, given the impossibility of resisting the French siege. Defence of Rosas. Illustration by Serra Pausas. ""Glorias Espanolas"" (Glories of Spain). Volume IV. Published in Barcelona, 1890.
