Peninsular War (1808-1814). French troops under the command of General Lechi occupied the castle of Montgat on June 16, 1808. On July 31, an attack was launched to recapture the castle. A Spanish and an English frigate lined up with the castle and began a maneuver. Simultaneously the companies of miqueletes intervened, helped by the somatenes of the area of Montgat and Premia. The French troops were captured inside the castle by an English detachment that had disembarked from one of the frigates. Capture of the castle of Mongat by the Sometent.
