French Revolution of 1848. Popular uprising in Paris from 23 to 25 February 1848, led by workers and students, who were joined by the National Guard. As a result, and to avoid bloodshed, King Louis Philippe I (1773-1850), besieged in the Tuileries, abdicated on the 24th in favour of his grandson, Prince Philippe of Orleans (1838-1894), Count of Paris.
