The battle of New Orleans was actually more than one battle. The conflict took place over a period of a few days—from December 24, 1814, to January 8, 1815. This illustration dates to 1898. It was the last battle of the War of 1812, fought between the Americans and the British. In charge of the American forces was Major General Andrew Jackson. In charge of the British forces was General Edward Pekenham and in charge of the British navy was Admiral Alexander Cochrane.
