Stourbridge Lion - first Locomotive to run in America. The Stourbridge Lion was the first locomotive to run on a commercial railway in America, and was operated between Honesdale and Seely’s Mills in Pennsylvania on the Delaware and Hudson Canal Company’s railroad, beginning August 8, 1929. It was built by Foster, Rastrick & Co, in 1829.
