Sir Henry Rider Haggard (1856-1925) was an English writer of adventure fiction set in exotic locations, predominantly Africa, and a pioneer of the lost world literary genre. He was also involved in agricultural reform throughout the British Empire. This English novelist is best known for his romantic adventure King Solomon’s Mines, published in 1885. He was also a practical farmer and was part of the literary reaction against domestic realism that has been called a romance revival.
