It is known as the Dendera zodiac (or Denderah zodiac). The chapel was dedicated to the Egyptian god Osiris and the Temple was sacred to the goddess Hathor. Dendera is a small town on the Nile in southern Egypt. The ancient Egyptians worshipped Hathor as the goddess of joy and motherhood. Osiris was the god of the afterlife and the underworld.
