Pictured here is a manuscript drawn on papyrus of hieroglyphs and art found in an ancient Egyptian tomb in Thebes, with its many rock-cut tombs, in southern Egypt. This illustration dates to 1903 and appeared in the book History of Egypt by French Egyptologist Gaston Maspero. It brings together many of the scenes found in the tomb. Among these are  the god of the underworld Osiris (his skin color green, symbolizing rebirth) sitting at left. In front are the four sons of Horus (Horus was Osiris' son). The god of writing Thoth is inscribing on a a rectabgular piece of papyrus. The scales to judge the deceased follow.
