This wall painting showing wrestlers was found at Beni Hasan,  and is based on the drawing done by Champollion. Beni Hasan is an ancient Egyptian cemetery located in Middle Egypt. It was used primarily during the Middle Kingdom (the 21st to 17th centuries B.C.). The people are thought to be perhaps Hyksos, a Semitic people from Asia, who later ruled for a time in the Delta region and had their capital at Memphis. Jean-François Champollion, also known as Champollion le Jeune, was a French scholar, philologist and orientalist, known primarily as the decipherer of Egyptian hieroglyphs and a founding figure in the field of Egyptology.
