This illustration dates to around 1900. It shows a Minoan Vase or jug that was in the Abbott Collection and is now in the Brooklyn Museum in New York. The vase is considered one of the world's most important works of Minoan pottery. The designs show five mollusks that known as nautili floating above the sea floor. The undulating lines of the water plants and nautili tentacles reflect the Minoans love of blod, sweeping designs. For the Egyptians, Minoan painting must have provided an exotic contrats to their own balanced and ordered designs. It dates to around 1575 to 1500  B.C.
