This scene was uncovered on a wall in the palace at Amenhotep III, known as Malkata Palace, located near Deir el Bahari (also spelled Bahri), the village of the workers on the tombs in the Valley of the Kings and surroundings. Only fragments of the paintings survive, but these water fowl were originally shown flying above plants growing in a pool. Amenhotep III was the ninth pharaoh of the 18th Dynasty (New Kingdom). He ruled from about 1386 to 1350 B.C. His father was Thutmose IV. His son was Amenhotep IV, but then changed his name to Akhenaten.
