An arquebusier refers to a person who uses an arquebus, a matchlock shoulder gun. A good suit of armor would stop the ball being shot by an arquebus, but if the arquebus was shot at close range, it could penetrate even good armor. It was also effective against cavalry. This weapon was commonly used from the 1400s to the 1600s.
