Henry VII (c, 1275-1313) was the Holy Roman Emperor. He was the count of Luxembourg and elected in 1308 to succeed the German king Albert I in 1308. He tried in vain to restore imperial authority in Italy by ending the strife between Guelphs and Ghibellines. He was cowned king of the Lombards in 1311 and emperor in 1312. He died in the middle of a campaign in South Italy. He was the father of John of Luxembourg. Thhis is a page from the Codex Balduineus, a 14th-century ancient legal text. The top frame shows Henry VII winning the battle on February 12 ,1311, and being crowned king. The bottom frame shows Henry VII sitting in judgement - the text reads: The king sits in judgment, he destroys the tower in Milan (in Italy).
