A little girl in ragged clothes sitting barefoot in the snow, on the right, against a large wooden door, feeding two stray dogs from a small piece of bread she holds. There is a poster on the wall to left that includes the following text 'V R / Year 1870 / Notice .. A Sermon / .. Charity'. Briton Riviere was a British artist of Huguenot descent. He exhibited a variety of paintings at the Royal Academy, but devoted much of his life to animal paintings.
