This 1910 illustration by English artist George Edward Collins shows swallows in Selborne in the county of Southampton in England. Here, the young swallows have been taken, as is norm, to dead leafless bough of some tree where sitting in a row their needs are attended with great attention. Selborne was a place of note and distinction in the time of the Saxons. The illustration is from the book ""The Natural History & Antiquities of Selborne in the County of Southampton by Gilbert White (published 1911).
