The caption for this illustration reads: The elephants came as were expected. In the Serbian myth associated with this sotry, a young boy whose father had been killed by a ram with golden took his father's rifle and sought the ram and shot him. When the ing learned of the golden fleece, he wante dit but the boy would not give nor sell it. The king then assigned impossible task, a maiden appeared to help the boy. The task here relates to building a castle of elephant tusks. The boy, with the help of the maidem has been able to form a huge pool and has poured wine and brandy into the pool. The elephants came, the boys and his companions waited til the elphants were drunk and then cut off their tusks and built the castle. The illustration is from a 1921 book on Serbian myths and legends.
