Accoridng to the tale, there were two brothers living in Bohemia, near Gruenberg Castle. They were Staglow and Chrudis, of the fmaily Klemowita. When their father died, the older brother, Chrudis, said that he should inherit all. The younger son, Staglow, said the estate should be divided equally. The Princess Libuscha, at the Castle, was told of all and she assembled everyone in the country and said the brothers should inherit equally. Chrudis rose up and mocked the princes (as seen here in this illustration) and the people for being ruled by a girl. The princess said she would wed whomever her people chose and would no longer rule alone. The people chose Pungel, the bravest of all Bohemian knights.
