The scen in is a poor village in Sweden in November in 1719. The boy is Carl Linnaeus, a Swedish botanist, physician, and zoologist. His father was a pastor and is seen here at left reading the bible and commenting , form time to time, on them to his family. To the right is his mother, knitting stockings with wooden needles. The two little girls are learning to knit and imitaing their mother.
