Olaf Tryggvison smote him on the head with the little axe - the man had killed Thorolf, his mother's foster father, ninth-century Scotland. One day, Olaf Trygvgison was in the crowded market-place. He recognized Klerkon, who had killed his foster-father Thorolf Lusarskeg. Olaf had a little axe in his hand, and with it he clove Klerkon's skull down to the brain, and ran home to his lodging, and told his friend Sigurd what he had done. This illustration by Gordon Browne dates to 1913.
