This photo shows Madame Lillian Nordica as Brunhilde in Wagner's Valkyrie. Nordica was an American prima donna who was born in Farmington, Maine, in 1859 and became of greatest Brunhildes of the day and famous in all the great Wagnerian music-dramas such as Lohengrin, The Valhyrie, and Tristan and Isolde. She made operatic debut at Brescia in 1879 in La Traviata.
